As a service to our clients, Dennis LeVine & Associates strives to keep you updated on breaking news and recent developments and cases effecting secured creditors.  We would like to share the following item of interest with you.

BROWARD COUNTY (Fort Lauderdale)   COURTHOUSE FLOOD

As if there weren't already significant delays by the Clerks in Broward and Dade Counties, this morning we learned that there has been a huge water leak at the main courthouse in Broward County, Florida.  The Court is closed today (Tuesday, December 2, 2008) ,  and they are not sure when it will reopen.  All hearings scheduled today are cancelled.    Phone lines are not working as well.  The Ft. Lauderdale newspaper reports that the closure may run into several weeks as the Clerk's office was severely damaged.  It has not been announced how much damage has been done to the files or computer records. We will keep you updated, but expect this to add a delay to any case being filed or moved along in Broward County. Please advise if you have questions on specific cases.
